Yes. The free version handles up to 5,000 photos with full duplicate detection, date-based organisation, and GPS travel detection. No account, no internet connection, no credit card. The free tier never contacts any external server — it runs completely offline from the moment you install it.
No. Pixifold processes everything locally on your PC. Your photos never leave your machine. The only network connection the app ever makes is to activate a paid licence key — and even then, no photo data is transmitted. Free users are fully offline with zero network activity.
Because Pixifold is new software that hasn't yet built Microsoft reputation. SmartScreen flags any unsigned or newly signed application — it's not a security issue. Click "More info" then "Run anyway" to proceed.
Pixifold never permanently deletes anything. Exact duplicates are sent to your Recycle Bin, where you can restore them at any time. Near-duplicates are shown side by side for you to decide — nothing happens until you approve the plan. After applying, the undo feature moves every file back to its original location. Undo is available on every tier, including Free.
No. Pixifold moves files into an organised folder structure but keeps every original filename intact. It never renames, edits, compresses, or alters the content of your photos in any way.
JPEG, PNG, GIF, BMP, TIFF, WebP, and HEIC/HEIF. Video files and RAW camera formats are not currently supported.
Pixifold finds exact copies by comparing file fingerprints, and near-duplicates by comparing what the images look like. It catches resized versions, recompressed copies, and minor edits. You review similar photos side by side and choose which to keep — nothing is removed without your decision.
Yes. The free version works on any Windows PC with no restrictions. A Standard licence allows activation on up to 2 machines — install it on your desktop and laptop. Need more? Contact support@pixifold.com.
Yes. Point Pixifold at any folder — local drive, USB, or a mapped network drive. Cloud-synced folders (OneDrive, Dropbox) also work, though undo cleanup may take a few extra seconds while the sync client releases its file handles.
With a Pro subscription, you can set Pixifold to scan your photo library automatically — daily, weekly, or monthly. The scan runs silently in the background via Windows Task Scheduler, even when the app is closed. When it's done, you get a Windows notification and a banner inside Pixifold showing what was found. Nothing is moved or changed until you open the app, review the results, and click Apply. Undo remains available after every execution.
Not yet. Pixifold is currently Windows-only. A Mac version is on the roadmap — follow us or check pixifold.com for updates.
The free version works fully offline — no internet required at any point. Paid licences require a one-time online activation and a brief re-check roughly every two weeks; after that, the app works offline with a grace period. The AI model (~354 MB) is downloaded once on your first AI-powered scan.
Windows 10 or later (64-bit) with at least 4 GB RAM. The AI categorisation feature downloads a ~354 MB model on first use, so plan for that additional disk space if you use Standard or Pro. A dedicated GPU is not required.
